What's new in Office 2021?

Microsoft Office 2021

Microsoft Office has been the world's most widely used office software for decades and has created standards that no one who wants to participate in modern working life can bypass. Version 2021 further develops many of the functions of its predecessors, but also sets some new accents.

Visual improvements and faster working speed

As always, the user first notices the visual changes. These include an extended dark mode, which makes it possible to have a better overview of the desktop when using several programmes at the same time. The Microsoft developers have also worked on the speed. In everyday use, the applications convince with a faster reaction, which is also noticeable on weaker computers.

New features in Excel and Word

Several technical changes relate to the spreadsheet application. It contains two new functions: Dynamic Arrays and XLOOKUP. In Word, the correction of punctuation, style or spelling errors found is now done with a simple click, after which the software displays suitable correction suggestions.

PowerPoint goes video

PowerPoint also contains innovations. For the first time, presentations can be recorded and saved directly as videos with Microsoft Office 2021. The speaker's freehand writing and laser pointer are included in the videos and enable direct comprehension during later viewing. The pen support, which is still available, fits in well with this. Digital work tools can be integrated perfectly into everyday work, save time and are flexible.

Teams instead of Skype

Until now, Skype for video conferencing was part of Microsoft's standard equipment. With Microsoft Office 2021 and Windows 11, the US company is breaking new ground. Microsoft is encouraging users to switch to Teams, which is now an integral part of the Office suite. Skype for Business is no more. Video conferences with large groups, surveys among all participants or the extended sharing of different files are available as practical features in the new version of Microsoft Teams.
