Download tool for software from Microsoft

The blog HeiDoc.net has published a small tool that allows the retail versions of all Microsoft products provided on the Microsoft store, Digital River, to be downloaded directly. This small help program should make work easier for many private users, but also for PC service providers. It also makes Windows 7 more easily accessible for everyone again. It is well known that Microsoft now only grants owners of a hardware-related OEM licence the ability to download Windows 7 from third party websites.

The (naturally free of charge) HeiDoc tool for downloading Windows and Office ISOs is multilingual. The retail versions of the software that can be downloaded using this tool can be installed and activated with the licences offered by us.

Windows 7: Microsoft presses you to upgrade

Seven weeks before the opportunity to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 free of charge comes to an end, Microsoft is apparently trying to press many Windows 7 users into upgrading. Specialist media are reporting that some users haven’t been able to dismiss the annoying pop-up window that urges you to upgrade by just clicking the X at the top right. Instead, and totally unexpectedly, this click has apparently started the upgrade process. That being said, we haven’t yet been able to confirm this phenomenon for ourselves.

Using the free ‘GWX Control Panel’ software, you can deactivate the automatic upgrade request in Windows 7. Download here:

The deactivation can be reversed at any time. You have full control!

Premium Free Antivirus Protection

We also compared Avast to commercial antivirus software and came to the conclusion that the free version detects more viruses than paid software by AVG, McAfee and Ad-Aware. We plan to repeat this comparison test every six months and will once again present you with the current best free antivirus software in November.

May 20, 2016:

Background information on the Windows 10 compulsory fee, effective from 30 July

From 30 July, it will no longer be possible to upgrade Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 10 free of charge. Also from this date, it will no longer be possible to activate new installations with Windows 7 or 8 licences. An advantage: those who wish to carry on using their older version of Windows will no longer be pestered by annoying invitations to upgrade to Windows 10.

As a result of the period in which Windows 7 licences can be used for activating Windows 10 shortly expiring, FaireSoftware has reduced the prices for Windows 7 licences by €2 to €14.90. Even after 29 July, the price for licences for Windows 10 Professional will also remain €26.90. This price will not increase.

This changeover can cause problems for users who took advantage of the opportunity to upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 free of charge and who then make alterations to their hardware in August 2016 or after. In certain circumstances, they will be forced to purchase a licence for Windows 10. See here.

Immediate Delivery

Since 29 February 2016, orders in our web shop are automatically processed immediately. As soon as payment has been processed, the purchased licence is sent via email to the email address provided by the customer. The licence can also be accessed through the customer account under the order details. The downloads are freely accessible in our shop by clicking "Software Downloads" at the top right of the page.

The licence count informs you how many licences are available for the respective product in the shop system. This ensures that you never have to pay for licences for which you have to wait more than a few seconds after payment.

Problems with the activation of Windows 10

Currently, significant problems exist with the product activation of Windows 10 Professional. We recommend a clean install of Windows to make 10 Professional and activate with a license Windows 7 Professional. This is possible. And it's cheaper.
