EU prohibits geo-blocking

The EU member states have agreed on a ban on geo-blocking. Above all, large corporations deny customers from certain countries access to shop pages with offers that should only apply to certain other countries. Often it is about demanding higher prices for identical products from customers in Europe and the USA, because on average they have a greater purchasing power. Insofar as geoblocking is used to enforce this practice, it will in future be inadmissible in Europe.

In the US and many other countries geoblocking remains allowed.
