Windows 10 annoys with pop-up window for switching to Windows 11

We know the game from Windows XP and the switch to Windows 7 and from there to Windows 10: The Windows 10 operating system is now annoying with a pop-up window that interrupts your work without asking and prompts you to switch to Windows 11. We have only noticed this behavior in the English-language version so far, but gradually all other language versions should follow suit.

But be careful!

Clicking on the download link needs to be carefully considered. The upgrade without reinstallation fails on most devices with a meaningless error message. A complete reinstallation is time-consuming. Even if successful, you will need to allow several hours before you can use the device again.

It has proven to be a good idea to only click on "Download" if the device is not needed for the rest of the day. And cancel if the upgrade is not successful and a new installation is required. You can always do this later. Windows 11 has no security-related advantage over Windows 10 before October 2025.
