Microsoft switches off old Outlook versions

From mid-July, Microsoft will gradually switch off its old Windows, IOS and Android mail and calendar software. The US company announced this a few days ago in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. The official reason for deactivating the old mail software is security reasons. Experience has shown that such measures at Microsoft go hand in hand with advertising for expensive Office 365 subscriptions.

Outlook 2016 is secure, can be installed under Windows 11 and can be used in the long term. If you do not purchase Outlook as part of an Office package, please note that each Outlook version is only compatible with Office programs of the same year. Outlook 2016 is therefore compatible with Office 2016, Outlook 2021 is compatible with Office 2021, etc.
