How the doctor recognises corona candidates in only 15 seconds

If you have been to the doctor in the last few months, he may have asked you to stick your finger briefly in a small device that measures the level of oxygen in your blood. This is a pulse oximeter. Doctors have been using pulse oximeters as an immediate warning system for corona since spring 2020. A fully developed disease of corona leads to a decrease in the oxygen content (SpO2 value) in the blood. When the oxygen level in the blood is low, an alarm is sounded: corona does not have to be, but it can be the cause.

However, too low a SpO2 value also occurs, for example, at high altitudes, when there is an excessive amount of CO2 in the air and in lung diseases of various kinds, which need not have anything to do with corona. In any case, it is a good reason to visit your doctor if you measure it at home with your own pulse oximeter.
