Adobe Photoshop CS2 free of charge

Some time ago, Adobe disabled product activation for Photoshop version CS2. It can now be used without product activation. But the company still makes it available as a free download, including serial number, meaning that the product can still be installed. The idea behind this, at least officially, is that people who previously purchased this software, which was released in 2005, should still be able to have the opportunity to reinstall it, so they can use it on more recent Apple Mac operating systems, as well as under Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. But unofficially, it’s about market share.

Adobe products aren’t exactly cheap. A version of Photoshop that is available for everyone free of charge should evidently enable users to get to know its interface, encouraging them to buy the latest paid for version.

This calculation will no doubt be true in some cases. But probably more likely not. Because Photoshop CS2 can do more than 90% of what the majority of users expect from image editing software – right up to colour separations for four-colour printing. Version CS2 is therefore stiff competition for the current Photoshop.
